Nobody cares, Bob.Image: Getty Images
In sports, there’s nothing quite like talking shop about CEOs and team presidents. Obviously, their work is critical to the organization’s success. It’s just that nobody really needs to know anymore. Golden State Warriors GM Bob Myers has been leaking his contract negotiations to the press since early December, and yet nobody cares.
I don’t know how many Chits Myers had to rake in to get The Athletic to write a way too long exposé on “Why the Warriors Are in Danger of Losing Bob Myers,” but it must be a lot given the Sports Insider Edition considers published this pompous piece on Myers’ new podcast that same day.
Myers has a new podcast to promote
The longtime Dubs front office guy said there was no “epiphany” prompting this unnecessary piece of media; it’s “more to check in with myself”. Dude, if you want to do this, buy a journal. Their minds aren’t so complex that we need to hear unscripted conversations with basketball personalities. Half of the guests Myers has booked already have their own pods. Shit, everyone has a capsule.
The Myers podcast is produced by Omaha Productions…because it is, of course. The more things Peyton Manning does, the more it annoys me that he used my hometown to call hot routes and sponsor Pat McAfee. Who is demanding more content from front office workers? When the algorithm that suggests podcasts to you throws out the show “Lead By Example,” which features some sports executives you’ve never heard speak before, you should question your life choices.
Digging deep into the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference sounds like a great way to get ahead of an appointment you don’t want to attend. (If she’s into it, that’s even more of a cue to turn and run away.)

Dos Equis already has the most interesting man in the world, so please stop submitting your audition tapes, Bob. It’s uncomfortable.
The Splash Bros. revolutionized the NBA, not the Golden State front office
Myers didn’t orchestrate a trade to step up and get Steph Curry. The greatest shooter of all time fell to Golden State because Minnesota took two point guards that weren’t Curry. Klay Thompson was selected at the end of the lottery; picking him at 11 wasn’t a jump. And Myers wasn’t even there when they took over Curry and was just an assistant GM when they took over Thompson.
The GM may have been involved in the Hamptons meet-and-greet between Kevin Durant, Steph, Klay and Draymond Green, but it wasn’t a brilliant trick he dreamed up that landed KD.
The Warriors, like any other NBA team, had a great opportunity when the cap was raised and had the players, staff and championship window ready to lure Durant. Do you think the Trail Blazers tried to overpay Meyers Leonard and Evan Turner instead of signing the Slim Reaper? I mean come on
If Steve Kerr or a member of the Big Three were on their way out of the Bay Area, it would deserve several leaked stories on The Athletic and a podcast or two. However, nobody. Zero. Zipper. zilch. Nada. Fuck Bob. Retire, get a new job, get scammed by a hedge fund manager, I don’t care. This guy’s nerve.
